When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, it became very hard to get an appointment to get market ready cattle into any facility to be processed. Over the years, we have gained many customers who have come to count on stocking their freezers with our beef. There was also a shortage of meat in larger markets due to bigger processing plants being temporarily closed. People started to try and figure out local options for getting their meat. So we’ve decided to meet the meat needs of our community and ensure quality processing from start to finish. In June of 2020, Andy Lohr decided that the 100 East Center St. building had potential to be an asset to the community in the form of a meat market.

Andy, his wife Tonya and their children Jake Lohr, and Jessica & Mitch Alt worked with vision, creativity, commitment, and direction to turn the old building into a newly remodeled butcher facility. Center Street Meat Co. is managed by Jessica Alt for all of the day-to-day operations and Jake is one of the meat cutters. The family has worked with passion and integrity to provide customers with the freshest, most sustainable, local and hand cut products.
Andy Lohr has been a Crawford County beef producer his entire life. His herd consists of 80-120 cows that calve annually. These calves are kept with their mom for a minimum of 6 months and during this time they are grass fed. After they are weaned they are then grain finished. The family works hard to raise cattle that are packed with nutrition and superb flavor. All of the store’s beef products come from the family farm. This makes the quality of meat consistent for all of their customers to enjoy.
